Ice cream, Spaghetti and a Banana

The air in the room was made from delicate crimsons receding to soft pinks, though, when I looked in the far
away mirror I saw only a sepia me pretending to hide.

He gave me his words, many and bound crudely, surprising me with his gift and I thought I knew
then that the secret was hidden inside.

"Jessie would have wanted to hug you." were the first words he said.
And I smiled when he spoke them though I did not know who Jessie was.

I meant to walk away but he turned me back, lacing his fingers in mine, lifting my outward palms above my head against the waiting, raw papered wall.

His hands were much smaller than I had always imagined.

His lips brushed mine, softly then harder and I could taste years of longing
and something sweet, like decision.  I pushed back, but not to get away.

"Are you afraid to make love to me?" he whispered inside my mouth.

I had no answer, for I had long forgotten that this was what I had wanted.

In combination the title, the picture, and the writing baffle me and leave me wanting more to clear it up. I absolutely love all three!

I have to laugh.......

The title is what I ate before I took a nap and had this dream.........

The pic.....because I couldn't take a picture of what was inside my head.......

Words come from the oddest of places.......

Sadly, there is no more. Yellow Dog woke me up.....

I think you handled the subject matter very well. One can write about sex without it being explicit.

I rarely write about sex, and never unabashedly. You did pretty well here, considering it's a challenge for you. Nice work.

This is the way I prefer to read erotic stuff--nice and misty in a pink and rose haze. I'm not very good at writing about that either--but I love what you did here. And, the banana. I'm sure Freud would have had plenty to say about that. ;_)

Sensual..it stirs the blood but doesn't pollute the senses...love it!

What a refreshing poem .. I enjoyed it! I've hinted at, skirted around the issue of sex in my poems ... only because my kids, grandkids and sisters read what I write! I need to grow a spine.

I love the way you wrote this, as you wrote sexuality in an 'understated' way but a way which managed lead the reader to visualize which was not blatant. Nice!
